Do I need an ID to vote? Most of the time, no. But if you are voting for the first time in MA, are on the “inactive voter” list or are voting provisionally, you may be asked for ID. More details here.
In-person early vote
You can vote early without an advance application, reason or “excuse” on these days:

You can early vote in person at the Town Clerk’s office at Town Hall, Floor 2.
If you are out of town or have a religious observance on election day and early vote days, you can schedule your early vote at the Town Clerk’s office on a day that works for you.
Contact the town clerk to schedule.
(Mail-in ballot can be a good option here too, if there’s enough time.)
Vote by mail
You can mail, drop off or email your paper application (or even just any signed note asking for a ballot) at the Clerk’s Office in Town Hall, Floor 2.

Mail-in ballots can’t be dropped off at a polling place on election day. But, you can just go vote on election day!
Track My Ballot is an online tool you can use to confirm the status of your request to vote by mail. “Pending” indicates the application was received and will be mailed when the ballots arrive.
